“The Bible says it, so I believe it.” That’s what my grandparents’ generation would say. Of course, they’d be right. If the Bible says it, we ought to believe it. But what if the Bible can’t be trusted? What if all the wrong books are in it, and we’re missing the right ones? What if there are errors in it, and it contradicts itself? Worse yet, what if the Bible was not copied accurately throughout the ages, and the original words are completely lost to us now? These are questions that the lay person did not need to address prior to the Information Age, but now, we are faced with them constantly in classrooms, on television, and on the internet. Thankfully, there are answers to these questions. God’s words have been kept pure in all ages, and the scriptures exist to this day as God’s very words.

This world looks nothing like the promised perfect kingdom of God. And yet we as God's people must live in it every day. In The Book of 1 Peter, Kyle Idleman walks through the short letter and unpacks the importance of our witness in this world.
The Men's Monday Evening Bible Study meets from 8:00 to 9:00 PM in Room 204.
Often, idols are obvious—money, power, fame. But subtler idols can sometimes take the form of loved ones, Instagrammable interiors, and busy seasons of work, motherhood, or ministry. But if your heart is prioritizing any of those pursuits before God, you’re missing the unrivaled joy and adventure of Jesus being your heart’s ultimate treasure. In this study, learn to identify the functional gods you may be unknowingly serving and the lies they tell. As you dethrone your modern-day idols, you’ll be set free for the deeper, more abundant life Jesus came to give you—discovering that Jesus can do what no other god can.
